The Easiest (And Messiest) Pie. Ever.

There are so many levels and types of pie making. The first pie I made was a disaster. I don't know, but maybe it just takes one disaster to build up the skill. The following is only my second pie. It's definitely not perfect, but there are definitely some ways that you can make it awesome! :)

When I made my first pie, I did the crust by hand. When I was mixing the ingredients, I accidentally bumped, and started, the electric blender, sending the crumbs everywhere.
Yikes!
The next time I made a crust by hand was when I made cheesecakes for Easter. It went really well, and the recipe was great:

This time, I used a similar recipe, by the amazing Sally from Sally's Baking Addiction. It truly is a perfect crust!

How-to-Make-a-Perfect-Graham-Cracker-Crust

I'm guessing that this recipe can be used with any type of cookie, and I think I'll try that in the future.

For my filling, I used vanilla bean pudding. I just prepared it like normal pudding, then dumped it into my chilled crust. I didn't read up on this, and I wish I had. This pie looked awesome, but it was messy and couldn't be cut into real slices. Even though I kept it in the fridge, the pudding kept it's consistency and texture. So it was good, but messy.

Now is time for the best part - decorating! I melted a bar of dark chocolate in the microwave and drizzled it over top, then added shaved milk chocolate.

Next, I created rows of white chocolate chips and purple candy pearls, which created a structured, colorful look.

Lastly, I sprinkled on some "aquarium" sprinkles, which are perfect for decorating during the summer months.

It's kind of crazy looking, but fun too. I made this a day before serving it, so the blue sprinkles dyed the filling a bit, but not to the extreme. I love this pie because it's so simple and fun. But next time, I would change the filling. Some kind of mousse would be good and sturdy. This was super fun to make, and definitely helped me to build up my pie making skills. Enjoy, and make it your own!
