Chocolate Chip Cookie Chocolate Truffles
Story time! So last week, I attempted to make cake pops for a party I was going to. Mind you, I'd never made cake pops before, but I had some leftover cake after I had made some bundts for Father's Day. How hard could it be? It was going pretty well, until I tried to stick in the toothpicks (I shouldn't have used toothpicks...). In the end, I gave up and took out the picks, deciding that I would be making truffles instead. By the way, over the past year which I have been baking, I've learned that it's often all about trial and error, and perfecting things over time. Learning from your mistakes is very important! I actually ended up liking the truffles, and I decided to make some for my Grandmom's birthday. I knew they were going to be loaded with chocolate, and I knew they were going to be fun. So, here we go!
Introducing the chocolate lover's truffle - chocolate chip cookie chocolate truffle. A mouthful, right? Yes!! I wanted to make a chocolate truffle, but I didn't want it to be just plain chocolate. That's how I came up with putting crushed chocolate chip cookies inside. Even after putting in 30-40 cookies, the crumbs weren't as visible as I'd hoped. But when I bit into it, it tasted just like the cookies I had put inside! Hence, chocolate chip cookie chocolate truffles. ;)
If you plan on doing this, be sure to use crunchy, crisp cookies, because they are crushed easily into crumbs. As much as I love a soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie, it will not break as easily into such small pieces.
I topped my truffles with cotton candy crunch sprinkles. I know, it sounds weird and kind of disgusting, but you can't really taste it. The sprinkles are only there to add an extra crunch and a pop of color.
Make sure that you put on any toppings which you desire before the chocolate sets, so that they will stick to the truffle.
I'm totally in love with the Target dollar section (well, I always have been, but...), because they have so many cute stands, plates, and bowls. I can't help but give in!😄
I ended up getting some kick-butt (in a good way) feedback on these. I was happy with them, so I hope you try 'em out! :):):)
