Nutella Skillet Brookie

Nutella lovers - it's your turn!

Who doesn't love a good brookie (aka brownie + cookie)? This one is made with milk chocolate brownie, my sugar cookie (from the cookie challenge) and the best part...nutella!

We start with a base layer of Betty Crocker's milk chocolate brownie. So easy! That's one of the best parts about this recipe. It's quick and easy, but a fun crowd pleaser.

Before you put this in the oven, drizzle on some nutella - as much as you want. It doesn't have to look pretty. My certainly doesn't!

Bake it for a little bit, then it's cookie time. I used an ice cream scoop to distribute the dough.

To distribute it more, I spread it out after a little time in the oven. Then decorate with nutella. That's it!!

Check out the recipe and go for it! 🌰🍫

Nutella Skillet Brookie

Serves eight

Ingredients

  • Betty Crocker Milk Chocolate Brownie Mix plus corresponding ingredients
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) softened butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbs brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Water
  • Nutella

Directions

*see above photos for help*

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Follow the directions on the back of the brownie box to make the batter.
  3. Pour the batter evenly into a greased 12x12 cast iron skillet.
  4. Drizzle nutella (as much as you'd like) on top of the batter.
  5. Bake the brownie for 15 minutes while you make your cookie dough...
  6. Cream softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar on medium speed until combined. Add in egg, yolk, vanilla and beat until combined.
  7. Add in your flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt and beat on low until fully combined. If your mixture is crumbly and refusing to combine, add a half of a Tbs of water and beat again. Knead the dough if needed.
  8. Once your brownie is out of the oven, use an ice cream or cookie scoop to distribute the cookie dough.
  9. Bake the brookie for 10 minutes, then take out of the oven and break up the cookie dough with a fork to spread it out a bit. Bake for about another 10 minutes.
  10. Let the brookie cool and set for at least 30 minutes, then decorate with nutella. Go as crazy as you'd like!
